Harvard Kennedy School

Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), officially the John F. Kennedy School of Government, is Harvard University’s public policy and government school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Master’s degrees in public policy, public administration, and international development are available, as are four doctoral degrees and numerous executive education programs. Belfer Center

Located inside the Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University in the United States, the Robert and Renée Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, usually referred to as the Belfer Center, is a research facility. In order to give an analysis of arms control and the elimination of the nuclear threat, biochemist Paul M. Doty established Belfer in 1973 as a program in science and international affairs at Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences[3]. The program was relaunched as the Center for Science and International Affairs as a result of Ford Foundation funding, and it eventually developed into the first long-term research hub for the recently established School of Government.

Technology and Public Purpose Fellowship in the USA

The TAPP Fellowship is designed for individuals from many disciplines with a demonstrated interest in technology and public purpose. It was established in response to an increasing need for training people to conduct technology policy and analysis practitioners in government and industry. Fellows are hired for one-year terms and are members of a cohort charged with conducting research in technology and public purposes, such as enhancing digital media, controlling the geopolitics of technology, designing morally-sound biotechnology and artificial intelligence, enhancing the alignment of new forms of work with human fulfillment, and generally influencing technological advancement to advance public goals.

Eligibility

  1. Whether it be science, technology, politics, investing, or advocacy, candidates should have substantial professional experience and subject expertise in their disciplines.
  2. Candidates should show through their current or prior work a dedication to or interest in technology and public goals.
  3. Candidates should be self-starters who feel comfortable managing their own projects and carrying out independent research.
  4. English proficiency is required of applicants.
  5. For the duration of the 2023–2024 academic year, candidates must be able to commit to the fellowship program full-time (35 hours per week) and be able to live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, throughout that time.
  6. To work and live in the US, fellows must be legally able to do so.

Funding Amount

The full-time compensated Technology and Public Purpose Fellowship post is available. Harvard’s pay scales determine the precise funding amounts. For the nine-month period of the fellowship, fellows have, nevertheless, received a stipend of $83,333 over the previous three years.

Note: Recommendation letters are not required for the TAPP Fellowship.
